To keep the service free for everyone, we only ask that you use it — servers inactive for 30 days are recycled to make room for others.

Each free Mumble server supports up to 15 simultaneous users — enough for a gaming group, study session, or community meetup.
What regions are available?
We have servers in three regions: United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Choose the one closest to your group for the lowest latency.
Will my server be deleted?
Only if it's unused. Servers inactive for 30 days are recycled. As long as someone connects regularly, your server stays active.
How is this different from Discord?
Mumble is open-source, has significantly lower audio latency (important for gaming), uses less bandwidth, and doesn't track you. RedMumble gives you your own private server with full admin control.
Do I need to download anything?
You need the Mumble client to connect. It's available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.

Redmumble is a free service built by a developer who misses the simplicity of the early web
where tools were fast, private, and focused. I wanted a high-quality voice chat for
my own friends without the bloat of modern social platforms.
Now as an adult with a house, kids and the whole shebang I no longer have the time
for hours long coding sessions, I thought my days of shipping projects like this
were over. But by using modern AI tools I was able to build this small Mumble
system orchestration running on Azure in the small windows between family life.
I've opened it up for everyone to use: no ads, no tracking, and no cost.
